A Message From My Dead Father

a sign of a message from the deadThis is a personal coincidence story or maybe something much more: a message from the dead,

Thinking about it perhaps it doesn't sound such a big deal but, at the time, it affected me greatly and still intrigues today.

My son had just told us that he had qualified as a Chartered Accountant, which takes six years work here in the UK. I was, of course, chuffed to bits about this and, after talking about it with my wife, I went upstairs to our bedroom.

I wanted to get something or other out of my wardrobe and, for some reason, I was wondering what my father, now deceased, would have thought about my son's success. As I reached into the wardrobe a small bag fell out.

The bag just happened to be one in which I kept a few of my dad's possessions. Nothing of value but they all mean something to me: his old watch, cigarette case, penknife, wedding ring, darts, a tie and a few other trinkets all full of memories.

I then looked at the watch. Dad was always one for punctuality and often asked, "Do you know what time it is?" when I was a teenager either arriving home at night or getting up late in the morning. Then I noticed the time where the hands of the watch had stopped and have remained ever since.

The time on the watch was exactly the time that my son had been born (3.20pm).

Perhaps I was in an emotional state but this really hit me. It was as if it was a message from my father saying he knew all about his grandson.

Okay, this may sound very fanciful but what are the odds of the watch stopping exactly at the time of my son's birth? Plus the bag fell out of the wardrobe 'by itself'.

Anyway, that was one of the first things that got me paying attention to coincidences and synchronicity. They have fascinated me ever since.

  1. It sort of ties (no pun on the tie your dad left) into the syncs I've been getting,as well.Syncs can be multiple messages all wrapped into one.
I'm sure part of the message is to acknowledge your sons success, but darts and time are very important messages...and so are the other items as well, maybe?
I have a blue car sitting on my CPU.It is from the movie "Cars 2" -"Finn McMissle" (Infinity?).
It was voiced bt Micheal Caine in the movie and has the numberplate 314 FMCM.3/14 or 14/3 is MC's birth-date 14th March,as well as Pi (3.14).
Anyway, you press an orange button and it says one of two messages -"Finn McMissle British Intelligence" or "Time is of the essence!",this is the important one for us mortals TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.But what is the essence of mortal time? Focus...or focal points...like on a Bulls-eye on a dartboard.Without a focal point the game becomes hard to play...oh,and the Bulls-eye isn't bad to hit. Most players think that's the best place on the dartboard, but there are better targets on the board and the highest target is a score of triple twenty 3x20 (3:20).
The players in the know aim for this target, not the Bulls-eye.
The secret to being a good darts player is to focus / relax (smokes?)/focus /relax...
    ad finitum.
Or as Goswami says Do Be Do Be Do
(sing to strangers in the night.-)
I have a small dartboard on my desk, which I use as a mandala to remind me of this principle of life.

    1. Darren, you've put a whole new spin on the incident! I never really paid any attention to the other bits in the bag at the time, so thanks. It's given me something to ponder. Do Be Do Be Do - I can hear Frank now!

  2. Even Star had a sync post on her blog tonight

    http://myexcenticartyworld.blogspot.com/2012/01/alices-coke-bottleamazing.html

that I found pretty good, knowing her love of painting Alice and Coke
(the commercial drink variety, not the white powder kind.-)
and I don't recall ever seeing a sync post on her blog before.
She would probably let you re-post it here,if you could ever get hold of her...maybe e-mail her.She takes a long time to reply to comments...if ever. But if I was painting the amount of stuff she does,I wouldn't be able to run a blog let alone reply to people's comments.
I think it's a good sync, and I'm a Pepsi drinker when it comes to cola.
But if she starts painting those poisonous diet colas into her paintings, she's lost me...well,maybe not...but I wouldn't be happy about that.

  3. Have always loved this story, Mike. Good one, Daz! You two really are spiritual brothers, I'm convinced of it now.
