Wedding Guests Find Two Coffins Instead Of The Wedding

Animal MagicThe British author Andrew Barrow has recently had a book published called Animal Magic: A Brother's Story

As the title suggests it is a memoir of his brother: Jonathan.

This story of Jonathan has a strange side to it, a coincidence if you like.

Jonathan was 18 months younger than Andrew when he died in a car crash, this was some 40 years ago, when he was then only 22 years age. Alongside Jonathan his fiancee, Anita Fielding, was also killed. This all happened just a short time before they were due to be married at the Brompton Oratory in London. All of the embossed copperplate invitations had been sent out.

Sadly the guests had to attend a double requiem on what would have been Jonathan and Anita's wedding day.

This in itself is pretty weird, but there is a further bizarre twist to the story.

At the time of the fatal car crash Jonathan had been writing a novel called The Queue

One of the scenes tells of wedding guests arriving at a London church only to find two coffins where the bride and groom should be. In The Queue the dead man had left behind a surreal novel, which goes on to be published to universal praise.

Following Jonathan's death the question was raised as to whether he had crashed his car deliberately to fulfil his own fictional prophecy. This is not, however, thought to be true. It was all a sad coincidence. (Source)

Living Around The Corner From Himself Coincidence

Same names

The following coincidence story I obtained from the Understanding Uncertainty website.

"I've lived in a small town in Alabama for 20 years. It wasn't till my last birthday, April 13th 2013, that a friend of mine came to me to tell me she almost got in a fight with a girl she works with over me.

Not understanding I asked how. She said, that after she attended my birthday party she posted it on Facebook. The next day a co-worker started asking why she was attending a party she wasn't even at. My friend replied that she in fact did and showed her the pictures.

The co-worker stepped back and said that's not possible. She asked why. The co-worker said my husband had his birthday yesterday as well. She went on to add that his name is also Brent Carlson. At first, I assumed this was a joke, but after she showed me his Facebook page I had to believe it.

I contacted this other Brent and found out that he lived not more than about 15 minutes away. This is still hard for me to believe since I've only know a small handful of Carlsons, an even smaller handful of Brents, and barely anyone with my exact birthday.

The fact that these requirements all met at the same time is hard to believe, and that that person is right around the corner is even harder.

What was just as disturbing is we've lived so close and know some of the same people and not once in 20 years did anyone mention this. I even dated a girl who went to school and was pretty good friends with him. She never thought it needed to be mentioned to either one of us.

We seem to be complete opposites so I'm at least happy about that."

Finding Money By Coincidence

coins and finding coins
Some of the coins my wife has found
As I have written previously my wife is always finding coins.

On a recent visit to west London she found a coin next to our car when we parked at the motorway services. We had stopped for coffee and a cake. "I'm bound to find three while we are away," she commented.

We reached our hotel and, after dumping our stuff in our room, went for a walk. We crossed the road by some traffic lights and on the barrier was another coin, her second. "One more to go," she said.

The next day we were walking through woods at Ruislip Lido and she spotted a one pound coin on the path ahead. A small girl walking with her parents in the opposite direction also spotted the coin and raced ahead to pick it up. My wife laughed that the girl had picked up 'her' coin. She didn't mind, of course, as it was a delight to see the small girl's expression when she claimed her 'gold' coin.

That night we went for yet another walk and, sure enough, on the pavement was my wife's third coin - with no little girl in sight.

When we got back to the hotel I looked at the dates of the coins to see if there was any significance: 1988, 1999 and 2010. I didn't notice it straight away, but there is a difference of eleven years between each coin, in other words 11:11. And, by coincidence, I have already written a post about 11:11 which was written prior to us going away.

My wife finds coins because she expects to do so. In this example, when she believed she would find three that's what happened. I must try to get her thinking about bigger things! Okay, joking aside, what this does illustrate is our potential to create. If we can conjure up three coins then why not a new car, happiness, better circumstances, love, knowledge - well, anything at all. All that holds us back is our belief, and that's often the difficult bit to overcome.

The Coincidence Of The Links We Have With Other People

A coincidence story from Dan today about the links we sometimes unexpectedly have with other people.

"I went for a job interview in Norwich (a middle-size city in Eastern England). At the interview stage I met this girl called Louisa. I got talking to her and it turned out she came from Dunstable which was near to where I went to university in Luton.

When I told her what I had studied she reeled off a list of 2 or 3 people she knew at Luton University, one of whom was my ex-girlfriend, Karen! I was astonished.

After we had our interviews I offered to walk her home and asked her where she lived. It was the exact house that one of my other ex-girlfriends, Sophie, lived in a year before! I returned home a bit freaked.

I didn’t see Louisa again for about three months when she turned up to start work in not only the same office but the same team as I was in. And this wasn't for the company where we met for the interviews, but somewhere completely different!"

Coincidence: They Missed Out On Millions But Six Years Later Had Money Galore

baby crying clip artI start off with a sad tale, so play those violins.

Lee and Sue from Grimsby in England were strapped for cash. After having a brand new baby there wasn't much left. They had to hunt for bargains, cheap supermarket deals and so on. The baby needed nappies. I think that's diapers in the US, so the couple had to forgo their usual flutter on the UK lottery. The £1 ($1.40) had a more practical use for that particular week.

Lee and Sue always kept to the usual numbers for the lottery, so surely one week missed wouldn't hurt. Sadly it did. Their six numbers came up and they would have won £8 million, that's about $11.5 million.

They carried on with life for the next six years, they had no choice, and went back to hunting bargains at car boot sales, discount houses and the like. They also increased the size of their family.

Ah, but now we can cut those violins and play some happier music.

money bags clip artA few weeks ago the couple started doing the lottery again, but this time the Euromillions draw, same numbers as before, of course. The good news is they have just won a share of the top prize, and have received a cheque for a cool £5 million! Okay, not the £8 million they missed out on, but they aren't grumbling. What's £3 million amongst friends.

Lee Mullen said, "We missed out on £8 million and were gutted. We finally started doing the lottery again only a few weeks ago. It's an amazing outcome." And who can argue with that.

So was there a reason they missed out on the big money six years ago? Was it the wrong time for them to become millionaires and perhaps now is the right time?

Or are you one of those who would say: 'Well the odds of winning the UK lottery are 14 million to one but someone still has to win it, and does win it most weeks. And some of those winners are bound to have some sort of coincidence story to tell about their success.'

The Butterfly And Carl Gustav Jung's Beetle Synchronicity

Butterfly at window

First a sourced coincidence story and then the beginnings of synchronicity with Jung.

'My mother was telling my date and I about how "the butterfly is the symbol of transformation". Exactly as she said it, a butterfly fluttered outside the open window behind her. What made it even stranger was that we were 3 floors up in a top floor flat, of the highest building in the village 2 weeks ago (end of October 2013)... i.e. It's very very rare, if not unlikely, to ever see a butterfly that high up.'

This story reminded me of Carl Gustav Jung's beetle experience that helped to give him the concept of synchronicity:

"A young woman I was treating had, at a critical moment, a dream in which she was given a golden scarab. While she was telling me this dream, I sat with my back to the closed window. Suddenly I heard a noise behind me, like a gentle tapping. I turned round and saw a flying insect knocking against the window-pane from the outside. I opened the window and caught the creature in the air as it flew in. It was the nearest analogy to a golden scarab one finds in our latitudes, a scarabaeid beetle, the common rose-chafer (Cetonia aurata), which, contrary to its usual habits had evidently felt the urge to get into a dark room at this particular moment. I must admit that nothing like it ever happened to me before or since."

Bizarre Romantic Coincidence Story

The Book Shop, Wigtown

Today's post has the lot: coincidences, instinct, following dreams plus romance and maybe a few lessons for us all.

Jessica Fox, in her mid twenties, lived in Los Angeles and was very much into the business of running her own film production company. However there was a restlessness inside her and also a dream or fantasy.

Jessica's fantasy was to work in a second hand bookshop near to the sea in Scotland. It all seemed crazy but she explained, "I just knew I had to be there, it felt right." So much so that she started sketching scenes from such a life: herself wearing scarves in a bookshop, cycling down to a windswept beach and so on.

Most of us would probably have soon erased such an adventure from our minds, thinking it too far fetched and even perhaps a little too silly. But Jessica stuck with her dreams.

As can happen in life she had the opportunity to take an extended vacation and set about bringing her fantasy to reality.

But where to start? The old favourite Google. She did a search for 'used bookshop Scotland' and Scotland's National Book Town of Wigtown came up. The largest bookshop in the area seemed to be something called, strangely enough, The Book Shop so she sent them an email, together with a photo of herself. She told them how she would like to work for them during her holiday.

A little later there was a reply stating simply, "Tell me about yourself." Jessica thought this would have come from, "a sweet 80 year old grandfather, typing with one finger."

Old booksShe did as requested and the shop's owner, Shaun Bythell, suggested she made her way to Wigtown in time for the local Book Festival. Jessica booked her flight and four weeks later set off for Scotland, though she was beginning to feel a little unsure about what she was doing, "It's one thing to have visions in your head but its another to carry them out. I had come across the world to live in a house of a man I'd never met and in a place I knew nothing about."

Shaun was at the airport to meet her and surprise, surprise he wasn't 80 years old and what's more he had been involved in television production prior to buying the bookshop with the help of a bank loan.

They had lots in common, "He picked me up from the airport and we talked non stop all the way back. I was exhausted from jet lag but we had an instant affinity." Only slight dampener was the fact that Shaun had a girlfriend.

But she hadn't come for romance and when she pulled into Wigtown, "... it was so quaint, surrounded by hills, sea, farms and forest. It was dark but absolutely magical. Going into the bookshop was like walking into a Harry Potter film. There were higgledy-piggledy bookshelves and the rooms kept opening into more rooms, with secret doors and creaking floors."

Jessica settled in quickly to her new temporary life and loved the book festival where she met many British authors and also Princess Anne.

All good things, some say, must come to an end. In what seemed no time at all Shaun was driving her to the airport for her return to LA.

Once the couple had separated Shaun and Jessica realised the depth of their feelings for each other. Jessica explained, "All these emotions bubbled to the surface - people say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it took leaving to understand how much it all meant to me."

Shaun separated from his girlfriend.

Three months later Jessica left her job, packed her belongings, gave up her apartment and headed back to Scotland. Shaun was waiting to meet the plane and Jessica "... ran into his arms for our first kiss and it couldn't have been more perfect."

The couple have now been together for two years and have launched their own film company Picto Productions.

So will there be wedding bells soon? Jessica answered, "Who knows what's around the corner? That's the thing with adventures - you never know. But I couldn't be happier that I followed my instincts."

Girlfriend And Boyfriend On Photo Before They Ever Met

Girlfriend and boyfriend drawing

Here's a coincidence story I saw or Reddit by JehuLove

"So, after we'd been dating a few months, I get a text from my girlfriend who asks me, "Were you at Club ID in Nagoya in December?"

We had met the following month, at the end of January 2011. I told her I wasn't sure of the date, but that I had, indeed, gone to the club with some friends sometime before Christmas.

She replies, "Yeah, you were there on December 18th. Check this out." And then proceeds to send me a photograph she took with her friends.

And there I was, in the background, photobombing her picture like a gigantic dork, a month before we'd ever met, in a city three hours from either of our homes.

Here's the top bit of the photo: Ingur"

Premature Baby Birthday Coincidence

Coincidence of babies birthdays

This is a coincidence along the lines of another post I recently published, 7:43 A Baby Is Born And Again And Again.

Last February 5th was a special day for mum Pam Banwell as it was her daughter Millie's first birthday. There was an extra big family celebration in South Wales because, as well as being Millie's birthday, it was also the birthday of her two other children Jac and Alisha.

Pam and her partner Lee Collins didn't plan it to happen this way it was just one of those 133,000 to one coincidences that can happen. Millie actually came into the world ten days prematurely - another coincidence.

There was a special birthday cake. No, not one each - but a cake in three sections: a third in the colours of Manchester United Football Club for Jac; a third as a Princess for Alisha and the remaining segment was of Mickey Mouse for Millie.

Pam said, "When most families are trying to cope with the post-Christmas blues, we are planning a big celebration all over again. It's like Christmas morning with presents and a big party. And it will be the same on February the 5th for years to come as well."

I also saw the following on a Daily Mail comment: "My mother was born on the 7th August 1933, I was born on the same day, 7th August 1955, I got married on 7th August 1984, my best mate and man was born on the same day as me, my eldest daughter was born on the 7th August 1986 and my son on 7th August 1987. Beat that! - Paul"

Bach Mass In B Minor Coincidence

Bach Mass in B Minor

Another one of those it's a small world coincidence stories.

"In the 1980s I worked at West Midlands Blood Transfusion Service. I knew the director - an Iranian - quite well. I used to help with stats from the computer systems even went to dinner at his home a couple of times.

In 2012 my wife and I (who also worked at BTS at that time) were at a Proms concert (Bach B minor mass I recall) when, in the interval, while we were taking some refreshment in one of the corridors, who should walk by but the director we had known all those years ago. We had travelled from Worcester, he from Tehran. We spoke for a few fleeting moments before separating for the concert to restart." source

The Coincidence Of Finding Spike Milligan's Grave In Winchelsea

Rye 16th century cottages
Nothing too dramatic today as far as coincidences go but it's a personal experience from one of our holidays.

We were staying in a 16th century cottage in Rye, East Sussex, England. That's the row of cottages in the photo. The picture was taken from the church bell tower opposite.

One day my wife and I set off for a long walk heading in the direction of the sea. As we crossed some open fields I started talking about Spike Milligan, a British/Irish comedian, writer, actor, musician and poet who died back in 2002. Nothing specific, just general chat as we walked.

After crossing the fields I wasn't too sure which way to head but saw a sign saying Winchelsea, so I suggested we went in that direction. We approached the village which was highish on a hill and looked to be old and interesting.

We made our way through the old gatehouse and into the village. It was typically, old fashioned England with a big church at the center. Though I don't belong to any organised religion I like churches: the way they feel, the atmosphere inside and so on. They are usually full of history.

Winchelsea church
We spent an age in the church and my wife even made a 'rainbow' woollen bracelet while there, which she attached to her rucksack. As we were leaving my wife noticed a photo of Spike Milligan in the church!

Spike Milligan's graveShe beckoned me over and, sure enough, it was Spike's picture - with directions of how find his grave in the churchyard. This was completely unbeknown to us. We had no idea where he lived when alive or where he was buried. We now know that prior to his death he was living in Rye.

We found his grave outside and paid our respects. In typical Milligan humour his stone bears the words "Dúirt mé leat go raibh mé breoite". This is Irish and translates to "I told you I was ill." I have since read that the church would not allow this to be written in English.

Below is a very silly video showing Spike Milligan - he's the 'woman' in the horned helmet!

Three Babies Born At 7:43 Coincidence

Police Constable Matt Rigby and his partner Lowry Dairsley, from Salford, Greater Manchester, were expecting their third child, nothing unusual there. But then a coincidence happened where the odds of it actually happening were something like 300 million to one.

The couple's first two daughters were both born at the same time of 7:43, Ella in October 2005 and Evie in 2007.
Surely their third child wouldn't also be born at 7:43. Lowry takes up the story:

"When we found out I was pregnant with Harrison we joked it would be incredible if the same happened. When I went into hospital at 5pm we forgot about it and concentrated on the labour.

At 6.30am I felt the urge to push and when we next looked it was 7.41am. I was asked to wait for the next contraction by the midwife before she delivered him two minutes later. The doctors and midwives were speechless."

Matt added, "I looked at the clock it was 7.43. We couldn't believe the coincidence."

Matt was so impressed he has had a tattoo with the words 'Seven Forty Three' on his arm. The 20th of January 2011 was, after all, a 300 million to one special day. (The times of the three births have been verified with hospital records.)

A Box Of Pisces Coincidence

Picses

Today's coincidence example was sent to me by JC who often send me interesting bits and pieces. It's nothing very spectacular but illustrates how coincidences are often about, but we can easily overlook them.

"My name is David and my coincidence is about being born on David Street in Dandenong, Melbourne, Australia.

The Doctor who delivered me was also named David but my parents named me after the King of the Jews David, not after the doctor.

The Doctor was out fishing in the bay the day I was to be delivered and he had to come in early to deliver me. I ended up being a Pisces, another coincidence (Pisces being the Latin for Fish)

Also there is a sequence with my birthdate 12/3/1984 - a 1234 sequence with the 4 being the 4th number of the year."

The Coincidence Of How A Soldier Was Killed Where The Photographer Had Stood

Siege of Port ArthurA small coincidence I came across while perusing a few old photos I had acquired of the Siege of Port Arthur.

The photo is by James Ricalton who, it seems, was a prolific photographer in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The photo on the top right shows Japanese soldiers at the Siege of Port Arthur (China) during the Russo-Japanese War in 1905.

On the reverse of the photo it tells of how Ricalton took this photo:

"Mr. Ricalton had to creep cautiously through sections of trench where Russian shrapnel was dropping and where bullets came with deadly promptness to investigate any sign of life or movement."

The photo is of Japanese soldiers who had captured a Russian fort.

The coincidence is that exactly where Ricalton had taken this photo, only moments later, "One Japanese soldier was killed having been seen by the enemy's sharpshooters while he was peering out between those sandbags."

If James Ricalton had not taken the photo when he did, and remained where he was, he would surely have been killed instead of the soldier. The photo would then never have been seen.

Also with the photo is a description of the action which had taken place. They described the Japanese soldiers as:

"... a heroic remnant that survived the horrors and stood for hours knee deep in a muddy ditch among the bleeding corpses of their comrades until the moment came for one more desperate charge. There was an inferno of fire and steel bayonets serving when there was no time to load and fire."

It shows the awfulness of war and how brave photographers, such as James Ricalton, must have been. They risked their lives to record history. Below is another photo, in the public domain, from the Siege of Port Arthur. This time it is of Russian troops looking down on the dead bodies of the Japanese soldiers in the trenches.

Siege of Port Arthur

We must never romanticise war.

A Wizard Of Oz Coincidence Encounter

Daily Mail coincidenceA coincidence story today from the Daily Mail written by Maurice Bligh.

"The old adage 'It's a small world' was exemplified by an emigration policeman to New Zealand where he coincidentally booked the same speeding driver he had previously booked in the UK.

This triggered memories of my adventures 'down under' in the South Pacific 40 years ago, and something remarkable that followed on.

My story began as a schoolboy with a short-wave radio receiver. I used to tune into many distant broadcast stations including Radio Australia. On one occasion, I was inspired to write a letter to the Sunday international programme about my family links with Australia going back to my illustrious ancestor Admiral William Bligh, also the respected 4th Governor of the New South Wales colony.

A few weeks later, to my joy, the letter was answered on air. 'You must come to Australia and learn more about him here,' said the host.

Indeed in 1970, having arrived at Melbourne by ship, I telephoned the ABC studios and spoke to the same man who had been broadcasting for all those years.

We met at the studios including a VIP tour, a recording session for the programme, and a greeting from the studio boss who happened to be a 'Pom' with family living not a million miles from where I was born.

But that wasn't it.

It was another 20 years later, back home, when I decided to sell a portable electric typewriter made redundant due to the acquisition of a computer. Having advertised in a local newspaper, a middle-aged man came to my house and was taken with purchasing the machine.

'This is perfect for what I want,' he said, 'as I'm travelling to Australia.' He was in fact an Australian who had lived in the UK for many years, but had decided to return home to Melbourne.

Ah, I knew Melbourne, didn't I, and so the story above was retold. Strange, I thought, that he asked if I could remember the name of ABC's overseas director. Better than that I had been presented with several signed books, one of which contained photos of those I had met.

'You won't believe this,' he said - pointing to the director's signature and photo - 'but that's my dad!'

The Mobile Phone Number Coincidence

Woman on phone

Another coincidence story from Rich Masterson.

"I've also remembered another coincidence from a few years ago.

I tried to call an old friend on his last known mobile phone number whom I hadn't been in touch with for over three years. A woman's voice answered, so I said something like, "That's not Simon is it?" She laughed and said, "No, afraid not." I said sorry for troubling her and ended the call

I presumed I had dialled the number wrongly so I tried again. The same voice answered. "Sorry," I said, "that's still not Simon is it?"

"No," she replied, "But is that you Rich?"

I couldn't believe her saying that. Turned out it was a woman I used to work with about five years ago and she recognised my voice!

I came to the obvious conclusion that Simon must have changed his phone or number and his old number had been re-cycled to my old work colleague.

There is another odd bit to this story as Simon actually phoned me the next day! He said he'd been thinking about me the day before so thought he'd give me a call, my phone number was still the same"

Three Books On The Secrets Of Synchronicity And Coincidence

My blogging friends Trish and Rob MacGregor have written three books on the subject of coincidences and synchronicity and are quite the experts on the subject. I thought that I'd list their publications here as they may well be of interest to readers of this blog.

The 7 Secrets of Synchronicity: Your Guide to Finding Meanings in Signs Big and Small

About the book: There are signs everywhere, pointing the way to a better life, if you know how to read them. If you recognise the signs, you'll begin to see the plan the universe has mapped out for you.

In The 7 Secrets of Synchronicity, you'll see why there is no such thing as coincidence - and how your life can be the better for it. Synchronicity is the universal language of transformation - and its secrets reveal how you can live a life rich in fulfilment, meaning and wonder. The 7 Secrets of Synchronicity will convince you of the power of synchronicity with:

. The novel that seemed to predict the Titanic's sinking 14 years before it set sail.

. The number that links the deaths of Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison.

. Fantastic tales of the powerful predictions people have received through divination tools.

In this impressive book, authors Trish and Rob MacGregor reveal the seven secrets that allow you to recognise synchronicity when it happens - and make the most of it. You'll learn to interpret the meaning of the signs you encounter every day, and use such tools as the tarot, I-Ching and astrology to understand your past, inform your present and guide your future. Synchronicity - your key to making magic in your own life!

The Synchronicity Highway: Exploring Coincidence, the Paranormal & Alien Encounters

About the book: Once you’re on the synchronicity highway, you’re traveling through a realm that often seems as magical and strange as Alice’s Wonderland. You feel connected to something larger than yourself and your immediate world. Your perceptions change, you see and experience yourself and life differently. You become immersed in a mystery that often defies reason and logic. Your worldview can be turned inside out like a dirty sock.

On the synchronicity highway, meaningful coincidence is your guidance system. It lies in your awareness, curiosity, feelings, intentions, and beliefs. It lies within. Once you trust that inner guidance, synchronicities seem to pop up everywhere. They occur in travel and creative endeavors, in social movements and popular culture, and they sometimes proliferate during and after UFO encounters. When our lives are in transition and during intensely emotional periods, synchronicity is usually right there with us.

Following the lead of Carl Jung, who coined the term synchronicity, we see paranormal phenomena fitting under the umbrella of synchronicity. That’s because telepathy, precognition, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis all take place outside of cause and effect – the way things happen in the everyday world.

Synchronicity and the Other Side: Your Guide to Meaningful Connections with the Afterlife

About the book: You see your grandmother's favorite bird outside your window not long after her death. You inexplicably feel drawn to vacation at a remote location you've never been to, only to discover that your ancestors lived there hundreds of years ago.

Everywhere you look, you notice the numbers 1111- on clocks, license plates, odometers.

Signs from the afterlife are everywhere - if you only know how to look. In this groundbreaking book, you'll discover how meaningful coincidence - synchronicity - is key to your connecting with loved ones who have passed on.

Such contact can come to you through dreams and meditation, mediums and signs, and more. From the unexpected appearance of familiar animals, images, and sounds to clusters of numbers and objects, you'll learn how to recognize when and how people from the other side are trying to connect with you.

Dreaming Of A Lady In A Red Shawl Coincidence

Young Charles Dickens

On Thursday night of last week, being at the office here, I dreamed that I saw a lady in a red shawl with her back towards me. On her turning round I found that I didn't know her, and she said, "I am Miss Napier."

Lady in a red shawl
The next morning, all the time I was dressing, I thought about the dream and what a preposterous thing it was to have such a very distinct dream about nothing! And why Miss Napier? For I had never heard of any Miss Napier.

That same Friday night, after reading, I came into my retiring-room and there was Miss Boyle and her brother and also a lady in a red shawl - whom they presented to me as: "Miss Napier."

No, that's not my coincidence story, instead it comes from the 1800s and none other than the English author Charles Dickens (1812-1870). Though Dickens often used coincidences within his stories the Miss Napier episode is fact and not fiction.

The photo above shows Charles Dickens in a painting from 1842.

The Romantic Meeting Coincidence

Pretty woman

Here's a coincidence story from Rich Masterson.

"I was on holiday last year and was wandering about in Calla D'Or, Mallorca. I couldn't help but notice a youngish man with a beautiful woman. She was all smiles and looked like she was very happy. I went off in a different direction but about half an hour later saw the same woman walking on her own. She went into a fashion shop and on I walked.

It must have been a good hour later, maybe even more, when I went into a small restaurant for some lunch. I made my order to the waitress and in walked the same woman I had seen twice before. 'Quite a coincidence,' I thought.

She smiled at me and, as most of the other tables were taken, she sat at my table after asking if it was all right to do so. I, of course, said, 'Yes.'

We got talking and she was English like me, lived in Kent like I do and was born on the same day as me, June 22nd. Not sure how that came up in conversation but it did. More coincidences: Her surname was Masters (mine is Masterson) and her mother is called Florence, the same as my mother.

To cut the story short, the man I saw her with was her brother.

She and I are now married with a small son. Masters had a son and became Masterson!

I think it was meant to be."

The Date's The Same Coincidences

7th August

I saw the following on a Daily Mail comment:

"My mother was born on the 7th August 1933, I was born on the same day, 7th August 1955, I got married on 7th August 1984, my best mate and man was born on the same day as me, my eldest daughter was born on the 7th August 1986 and my son on 7th August 1987.

Beat that!
